Functional, yet stylish – Freedom Filosofie reinvents luxurious handbags for the working woman

Functional, yet stylish, Freedom Filosofie is a new Australian handbag label that was founded by Melbourne designer, Bella Corke, and was born out of the frustration of trying to find a handbag that was perfect for the modern businesswoman and lady about town that does not come at a sacrifice when it comes to style or luxury.

Each bag doubles as both a laptop bag and handbag, with multiple compartments, including easy access to front and back pockets for storage of air tickets, passports, magazines as well as large internal compartments for storing laptops, mobile phone, chargers, personal goods and more. Designed and crafted using premium full grain Saffiano leather, each bag is also available in three colours; red, blue and black.

With versatility and practicality in mind throughout the design process, Freedom Filosofie bags feature flexible tubular handles for comfort, top zips which feature gold hardware so that nothing falls out, and long drop handles to accommodate your coat or jacket folded over the front.

Travelling in style is now also easier, with each of Freedom Filosofie’s larger bags in the range, The Felicity, The Lorraine and The Robbie, designed to fit in overhead compartments on planes, or underneath your seat.

Founder, Bella said, “Like all working women, many of us all struggle to find that perfect bag that is both suitable for work and stylish for play, that can also easily fit in all the necessities for the day.”

“I then thought I better explore options to design one myself and worked on collaborating with designers, who could help me bring to life what I wanted in a high quality and luxurious everyday bag, that also meant I could find things easily.”

“The name, Freedom Filosofie was used as the Dutch spelling of the word philosophy is filosofie and pays a cheeky nod to a country that embodies freedom like no other,” said Bella.

Ingrained in the labels’ philosophy, Freedom Filosofie celebrates the lives of women, with each bag baring the name of one of Bella’s inspirational women who are no longer with us, and also feature 10 characteristics that celebrated that individual woman.
