The Power of Gold

An Olympic gold medal is one of the most coveted sporting prizes in the world. Awarded to only the few who excel in their field, it denotes true achievement and just a glint of its shine inspires admiration and wonder.

To mark P&G’s prestigious sponsorship of the London 2012 Olympic Games, Wella Professionals Global Creative Directors, Josh Wood (Colour) and Eugene Souleiman (Care & Styling) have created a dazzling collection of hair looks which explore the power of gold. Combining their expertise with the Wella Professionals award winning products and services, Josh and Eugene have created The Gold Collection.

Josh and Eugene were inspired by the work of renowned Czech photographer Frantiŝek Dritkol, whose work documented the motion of the human body reflecting the strength, passion and beauty of the Olympic spirit. Eugene Souleiman says “I have always been inspired by incredible photography and the work of Dritkol in particular came into my mind for the Olympic Games. The strength and beauty of his poses and the idea of motion is implicit. We wanted to replicate that concept of motion in hair.”

The collection explores three types of gold: bronze, rose and white, resulting in looks that are current and flatter a variety of skin tones.

The Gold Collection celebrates the beauty of three kinds of precious golds:

Bronze Gold:

The first look shows a strong, tailored bronze-gold colour which was created using shades from Wella Professionals Koleston Perfect and Color Touch, which can complement dark skin tones. The hair is cut into a super modern sleek bob where the clean lines accentuate the stunning bronze gold highlights.

Rose Gold:

This look was achieved using Wella Professionals Koleston Perfect and the result is a clear, luminous utterly natural rose-gold on strawberry blonde hair. The victorious pose is almost warrior like and the lustrous long hair looks as though it has been photographed mid-motion.

White Gold:

The final look represents white gold: a beautiful, clear shining result created using the best-selling Wella Professionals Crystal Gloss in-salon service, to maximise shine and create a super-premium blonde. Crystal Gloss uses the Color Touch Relights range which boasts an advanced ammonia-free, acidic pH formulation, making it gentle enough for all hair types. The style’s short crop recalls the winged cap of Hermes, the messenger to the Olympian gods in Ancient Greek mythology

Josh Wood adds “Gold tones are so varied that there is always something to suit everyone, whether you are a blonde, brunette or a redhead. Gold implies luxury and status. What better way to celebrate the London 2012 Olympic Games than with your very own touch of gold.”
