Wear, share and show you care
Women all over the country are coming together to pucker up for Bright Pink Lipstick Day. On September 28th, 2012, with the support of Revlon, women will be asked to wear a bright pink lipstick as a fun and funky way to raise awareness of genetic breast and ovarian cancer.
Pink Hope is a registered charity, established and founded by Krystal Barter in 2009 whilst recovering from her preventative double mastectomy. Krystal was only 22 years old when she discovered she had the BRCA1 gene fault that gave her an 85% chance of developing breast cancer. Barter’s mother, grandmother and great-grandmother all fought breast cancer at increasingly earlier ages so in 2009, when she was 25 years old, and with two young sons at home, Krystal had a pre-emptive double mastectomy. Having experi enced the isolation and lack of information for high risk families, Krystal created Pink Hope with the goal of providing unique and tangible resources.
In its inaugural year, Bright Pink Lipstick Day will act as an awareness raising campaign to inspire women to be proactive and vigilant with their breast and ovarian health. On Friday 28th September, 2012 – women all over the country will be asked to wear a bright pink Revlon lipstick, such as Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Love That Pink.
Revlon has always taken a global interest in women’s cancer issues through events such as the EIF Run/Walk in NY & LA, but saw a great opportunity to support and sponsor an Australian charity helping Australian women. Barter said, “The Revlon brand is a beautiful fit for Pink Hope. We are all about being positive and inspiriting the community and we are so excited to have Revlon on board as they are passionate about making a difference. There is nothing more important to Pink Hope than for our community to feel beautiful and inspired, and Revlon has been doing this for many years with their consumers. As for Bright Pink Lipstick Day, you couldn't find a more perfect brand when it comes to bright lipstick than Revlon!”
